The Lauriston Club...
first a fine new home, later a political club and, after a sad
interregnum, a place to relax, meet friends and enjoy an
evening out.
Now The Lauriston Club has in one way come full circle
because, when it was built as a private residence, it was called
“Lauriston”.
It was owned by Mr Patrick Hastings who had purchased an
extensive portfolio of properties on Oswald, Wilbraham and
Whitelow Road as well as Vincent Avenue and later added more
on Manchester Road.
Lauriston, according to the rate books, was built sometime
around 1887 and its first and only tenant was Henry C. Lloyd
