Now, we are not strangers to Didsbury, having written an
earlier book about how the township changed over a century,*
and regularly take the tram from Chorlton with our respective
families to the quirky shops on Burton Road, as well as Fletcher
Moss, and sampling the pubs, bars, and restaurants.
Added to which, I spent a happy year as a post grad.
student at the old Didsbury College of Education in the ‘70s and
Peter has exhibited his paintings in some of the galleries.
So, given that our first book was published in 2013, we
decided it was time for another.
That said, we had no intention of repeating the excellent
work of earlier Didsbury historians,** and instead went looking
